life in the desert: 4/16/06

Please Pray for Our Grandson Ryder, born 2 days ago. THe OB doctor was not in the hospital when mommy was ready to give birth. His heart rate took a sudden drop. The doctor did not arrive for 30 minutes. He suffered severe oxygen deprivation and is in NNICU.

my dear hubby spent a full day spraying the layer of jungle border with fabric softener and steam and scraping.... the fumes almost killed me . My husbands response to my severe headache and nausea from the smell was-- "what smell"??? oh, what in the heck can i put in place of these dreaded mirrored doors?

Welcome Spring! ...Winter??...Spring??

Spring is peeking its head out every other day here in the desert. Mother nature is up to a stormy presentation this Spring. One Day is sun filled with rising temperatures, desert wrens, road runners, baby jack rabbits out and about rejoicing in the plentiful spread born out of hardy rains. The next day, the cool winds return, carrying much lower temps in the 50's and 60's. I much prefer the latter, but worry the desert creatures are horribly confused by the erratic climate changes. I have not seen the wonderous QUAIL family in a week. Perhaps the head quail decided it is still winter. It could be the new presence of OFF ROAD VEHICLES, has disturbed their sacred nest. I pray this is not the case. I am aware of the destruction un aware people commit in the spirit of FUN IN THE DESERT.= DEMISE OF THE WILD LIFE.

time for threading the yarn through the needle-easier said then done for moi! Carolyn proceeded to show me the so DOABLE 2 LOOP stitch. YES FOLKS-even i was able to do it! which means--ANYONE CAN DO THIS!

THe technique is called TYING A QUILT! Having never seen nor heard of this-the journey was a complete mystery. We worked on the floor with a cozy flannel sheet underneath the quilt. coffee for me, coke for her, some fresh strawberries and chocolate chip cookies as our nourishing picnic snacks

IT took under a half hour for Carolyn to show me to lay out top, batting and bottem. SHe had all three pieces cut and ready to move on to next step faster then I can say SUPERCALAFRAGALISTICEXPYALADOSHUS =)
