Hi SAG,
IT is the VINEGRUE a rather hideous spider that generally scares the crap out of people!
THey are often mistaken for scorpians upon first look. I am not an expert, but I understand their bites are painful and leave the tast of vinegar in a bite vicitms mouth. Fortunately I have no experience with this. As much as I dislike killing any creature-these get the shoe wack(usually takes several to kill one )
I have heard them called sun spiders? i havent googled that as I cant imagine how that name relates to them.

Thanks for that.Here in New Zealand we do have a couple of nasty spiders that give you a bit of a nip if you're not careful, but like you I have been lucky enough to have avoided that so far!
