mary beth - i have this camera. bought it for myself as a birthday gift two years ago. i am about to purchase a different one. i've not enjoyed this one. the issues i've had with it may not bug you, but they did me...the automatic flash most of the times was too harsh, causing overexposure...this camera doesn't perform like an slr, so the actual shutter close time is delayed, causing me to miss otherwise good shots...it has malfunctioned on me twice. once i sent it to canon when it randomly began DELETING photos i'd only taken hours before that (not all, just RANDOM ones!), to be lost forever...the canon people replaced the whole computer inside of it...now the flash will not come up at ALL. i have had it with this camera that i've taken excellent care of and spent $360 on. just thought you'd like to know. your experience could be entirely different, but i like getting the 411 from someone who actually owns a particular item before i splurge! so throwing the 2 cents in!
