MB,
I didnt think any elephants had trunks when they were born. Have I been misled all these years?!!

BI C =)
no not misled, but these little fellas are an evolutionary survival variation. They were victims of poachers for years , where there trunks wer cut off for sale on the $$ market. Now they are appearing without trunks-as in ever- they dont grow trunks, thus; the poachers have no reason to kill them.
Pretty frickin, amazing, as far as im concerned. I always knew these great beasts were smart, but this is genetic brillience!
Love You

That's pretty scary. I agree, they likely won't be slaughtered anymore and that's wonderful. But what trauma must have settled in their cells to cause that biological change?
Horrifying what man does to animals sometimes.

Hi Echo,
you asked the one BIG QUESTION
"trauma must have settled in their cells to cause that biological change"
and then HOW?? HOW DOES THIS OCCUR???
Maybe if I added SCIENCE, EVOLUTION AND GENETICS,, In my INTERESTS I would get a wise visitor who could provide some answers ....
