These are great pictures. I was living in Victorville, CA and disturbed a huge barn owl once. He wasn’t a happy camper and his size was rather intimidating.
I am afraid I have a bad track record with owls - not intentionally, though. About a year ago I had an owl flare in front of my windshield as I drove to work, there was no time to react, in fact I didn’t even have time to see what kind of owl it was, but I did hear him whack the top of the van. My only hope is that all the feathers may have cushioned the blow. Then there were the little burrowing owls in Italy that had most unfortunately established their nest in the middle of the roadway (there were huge patches of dirt where the road had broken up and never been repaired, typical for Italy). They were no match for the hurtling Mercedes Benz I was driving and since they blended in so well I didn’t even notice them ‘til it was much too late.

Wow! MaryBeth - these photos are just amazing! What gorgeous birds - and so cool that you've been able to catch them in pictures! I would be spending a lot of time out birdwatching too!!!

The little one must be a baby, huh? He sure is adorable. Take good care not to disturb them more than you have to.

Well, I've heard that God allows people to come back and visit us - disguised as birds.
A little baby bird looking at you like that ?
Call me crazy, but you know what I'm thinking.
Sending you and your family lots of love.
